On July 23, 1939, a man by the name of Mahatma Gandhi wrote this letter to Adolf Hitler.
"Dear friend,
Friends have been urging me to write to you for the sake of humanity. But I have resisted their request, because of the feeling that any letter from would be an impertinence. Something tells me that I must not calculate and that I must make my appeal for whatever it may be worth.
It is quite clear that you are today the one person in the world who can prevent a war which may reduce humanity to the savage state. Must you pay that price for an object however worth it may apper to you be? Will you listen to the appeal of one who has seliberately shunned the method of war not without considerable success? Any way I anticipate your forgiveness, if I erred in writing to you.

Your Sincere friend
M.K Gandhi."
Gandhi called Hitler, a genocidal maniac, his friend. This letter struck me to the core at the fact that I have been thinking alot about my actions over the past few years. What have I done for humanity? What have I done for others? The reason this letter made me think these things at the fact that Gandhi practice what he preaches. Sure, there has been things that he has done that will probably get him cancelled today however, at least he tried his best to work with someone in total opposite of his beliefs.
